Computer
Specification
We would
recommend a reasonable Pentium processor (or equivalent) with at
least 64 Mb of RAM (we have found that with our application, memory
has a more noticeable affect on the performance than processor
speed) The graphics cards must be capable of supporting High Colour
16 bit, and a resolution of 800 x 600. The application is 32 bit and
will therefore NOT run on Windows 3.x, but will run with Windows
‘9x, NT and 2000.
The
application will run with a lower specification, but obviously the
lower the spec the slower the application. As a rough guide, the
application is normally demonstrated on a laptop with a Celeron
233mhz processor with 64Mb of RAM.
The main
application files will take up only 16 Mb of disk space on each
workstation, with a further 1 Gb required on a shared data drive.
Additional space will obviously be required as data is added, but
the Top speed files that the application uses are very efficient,
the majority of the 1Gb is taken up by static files required for
address and routing validation.
For
multi-user sites, a shared directory is required that can be mapped
to a specific drive letter on each workstation. This shared
directory can reside on a workstation (windows pier to pier
network), a Windows NT (or Windows 2000) server, or a Novell server.
We strongly recommend a 100Mb network. Sharing the address and
routing data over a 10Mb network does generally cause response
issues.
To
utilise the email Proof Of Delivery feature, we would require that
Microsoft Outlook (with a Profile named ‘Microsoft Outlook’), or
Outlook Express is installed on the PC’s.
